5 Great People in 2 Weeks
July 30, 2008
The thrill of journalism comes from getting to meet great people who will inspire you with their mere presence and words of wisdom. In a span of two weeks, I can’t believe I was able to see or actually interview these people. I will try to create an individual post for each of them later on. They come from various fields but the common denominator is that they are amazing. They are:
Business:
Thomas Fernandez, CEO of Pestbusters, No. 1 Pest Management Company in Singapore.
Catholic Church Leaders:
Pope Benedict XVI
Bishop Javier Echevarria, Prelate of Opus Dei
Film:
Carlo Ledesma
Government:
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani

The Greatest teacher I never met…
July 26, 2008
Best Selling Author Author Randy Pausch passed away last July 25, 2008 due to complications from his pancreatic cancer. His book the Last Lecture was a good read and had tons of useful anecdotes that were far from preachy or cheesy. He was a teacher I wished I met in real life. Find out more about him and his journey by clicking at the link below.
May Yabang Ako!
July 10, 2008
I met the ultra hyper Yabang Pinoy peeps for an Entrepreneur Magazine two weeks ago in Figaro coffee shop. Before I knew it, I was infected by their pinoy pride and got tagged with their abacca bracelet (picture below). As a Z-list celebrity, getting the abacca baller i.d is a way of being in the company of the real yabang pinoy celebrities when they post the picture in their website.

Sputnik Comic Shop at Cubao X (Cubao Shoe Expo) Photos
- I had a fun late night romp taking pictures of Sputnik stuff and browsing their collection for a Status Magazine review. I wish that I could have brought Bossy Bear back home with me though.

Bazaared Out and Other Updates
July 3, 2008

I went on an interview marathon last week to do a feature on bazaars. I talked to 2 bazaar organizers and 3 merchants. In addition, I had to also write the introduction to the feature. I received a bouquet of pastillas roses and an abacca baller i.d from the experience.
Talking to these people was definitely worth it because each entrepreneur had an inspiring story to tell. I admire how my respondents took major risks to follow their dream job. Also, I learned that brilliance and passion cannot be taught. As much as they gave good advice, their success can only be attributed to the fire in their eyes and their one of a kind minds. It really makes you think about how happy you are in your job and in life in general.

Pecha Kucha Slides
I gave a Pecha Kucha talk at Mag:net Cafe in the Fort last June 13,2008. The filmed presentations of the presenters are not yet out because of audio problems. However, you can find my slides and of the other presenters on their website at http://pechakuchmanila.com. You can find my slides through this link.

Food was on my mind and I was hungry last June so I wrote one article about sushi and another about coffee. Links are below. Bon Appettite!
July Issue of Entrepreneur Magazine

The July issue is out and the feature is on franchise awards. I was able to get some advice from Bayo, Netopia, and Crystal Clear. Aside from an innovative management team, the best way to franchise is just to hire Francorp, franchising consultancy firm. nuff said.
